Anomaly PodcastAnomaly is a geek girl podcast and blog, founded by Jen and Angela in 2007. The show is often featured in the What’s Hot section, under TV and Film within the iTunes Store, and has been deemed a Podcast Luminary by Libsyn.com. The hosts are described by listeners as “smart”, “funny”, “informative” and “addictive”. Their geeky episodes are centered on sci-fi fantasy books, movies, television, and games, as well as interviews, cosplay tips, and conventions reports.  Jen and Angela have always had two goals in mind for their show; to have fun and to offer their feminine perspective on all things geek. Basically, Anomaly helps geeks break the stereotypes that unfairly pigeonhole them, so they can “geek the way they want to geek” and free themselves from the dark arts of boredom.

Anomaly has been nominated, by their listeners, for a Parsec Award for three years in a row. In August of 2015 and in 2016, Anomaly was a finalist under the category of Best Speculative Fan or News Podcast (General).

Awards include Rookie of the year and Best Panel of Show Hosts in 2009 and Best Panel of Show Hosts in 2010 from Star Wars Fanworks; a network in which Anomaly once was a member.

Anomaly: Something that deviates from what is standard, normal, or expected; an oddity, peculiarity, irregularity, inconsistency, incongruity, a rarity.

The term “Anomaly”, as it is used in this community, was originally coined by Jen and Angela. They use the descriptor to set themselves apart from the stereotypes that are typically associated with geeks. Anomalies are women who do not allow themselves to “pigeonholed”. They break all stereotypes and geek the way they want to geek.

This term is reserved for women.  Sorry, men,  you can not have it. But one of your brethren, a fellow Anomaly listener, proposed that you call yourselves “Singularities.”  Singularity: the state of being singular, distinct, peculiar, uncommon or unusual. We Anomalies think it sings. Rock on, our atypical brothers, rock on. You, too, are welcome here. In fact, one of our staff members is a Singularity. Noah writes for our blog and joins us on trips to Austin Comic Con. He adds another dimension to our substance here at Anomaly. Be sure to check out all his articles too.

Jen is a professional graphic designer and a voice actress. She was raised on a farm, in the sticks of South Texas. Her father, John Wayne’s twin brother, is the individual responsible for introducing her to all things geeky.

Angela has been a theatre nerd for twenty seven years having worked her way from kid in theatre class to actress to costume designer to director. Her first memories include Wrath of Kahn and Return of the Jedi.
