Synopsis:
The ultimate woe, the epitome of nerd rage, the most taboo of all topics is the very one that Angela and Jen set forth to conquer in this episode: Star Trek or Star Wars. Join us as we bring back this golden oldie from the Anomaly vault all the way back in 2011 where Jen and Angela approached this age-old question, not from a ‘which franchise is better’ standpoint, but instead looked within and asked what the preference of one over the other says about a person.

Star Trek or Star Wars? The Taboo of all Bi-Fandom Topics

Full Show Notes:
We live in a world where saying something “bad” about a cartoon from the 80’s or a popular toy from the 90’s could get you into a heated debate about the merits of that fandom. Try to disparage something from Doctor Who, Harry Potter, or the Princess Bride and watch as nerds around you froth at the mouth and clamor to be first to inform you all about how those characters and stories are magical creations filled with unicorn farts. But the ultimate woe, the epitome of nerd rage, the most taboo of all topics is the very one that Angela and Jen set forth to conquer: Star Trek or Star Wars. Join us as we bring back this golden oldie from the Anomaly vault all the way back in 2011 where Jen and Angela approached this age-old question, not from a ‘which franchise is better’ standpoint, but instead looked within and asked what the preference of one over the other says about a person.

Also in this episode, the ladies talked about an article by David Brin written back in 1999 ‘Star Wars despots vs Star Trek populists.’ Just for some context, he wrote this just after seeing Episode 1 ‘The Phantom Menace,’ and I know I wasn’t in a particularly good head space after getting out of the theater on that one. Don’t forget to leave your thoughts on our Facebook group page as to why you fall on the side of the fence that you come down on, and if you agree with David Brin that Yoda is an evil little Muppet spreading the message from a hateful George Lucas that tells kids they can’t move things with their mind because they just don’t want to bad enough.
