Girls Just Wanna Have Fun! | The Legendary 80s Games We Loved as Kids!
In this episode of Anomaly, Angela and I get nostalgic about the retro games we loved as kids—from 80s video games, game systems and 80s arcade games to our favorite pop bands, we’ll take you back to the time when the future was so bright we had to wear shades.
Here are a few of the classic games we talked about: Defender, River Run, Space Invaders, Frogger, Mike Tyson’s Punch Out, Pac Man, Ms. Pac Man, Egomania, Coconuts, ET, The Ghostbusters, Indiana Jones, Kool Aid Man, Combat, Dragon’s Lair, Poll Position, Bowling, Pong, Warlords, and more.
We also touched on the announcements made at E3 2015: Mass Effect: Andromeda, Halo:Guardians, Rainbow Six: Siege, Tomb Raider, Fallout 4, Sea of Thieves, Star Wars Battle Front, ReCore and XBOX One’s backwards computability.
*Update: It’s been decades since I have played some of these games and because of that I mistakenly called Missile Command, Combat. I didn’t catch that until I exported the produced file. Doh. I’m linking to game play info below for both games.
All the stuff we promised to link to in the show notes are below. Check them out! Please share our retro games episode! And let us know what YOUR favorite classic 80’s games are! Post a comment below.

Police Quest PC Game
My friend, Joe, from The Upper Memory Block sent me this video he made of the very game I was trying to remember from this episode. It was “Police Quest”! Thanks, Joe!
I’m sure someone else has already said – but I think the detective game you were talking about was called “Police Quest”. Upper Memory Block did a podcast about that a while ago.
The other game with the shapes etc might have been “Nightshift”? If not you all might be interested in it anyway – as it involves running a toy factory that makes Star Wars figures (and you can mismatch vader and r2d2 parts etc). Hi Paul! Thanks for the comment! Yep, Joe from the Upper Memory Block sent me a video of Police Quest. I added his video to our show notes. Did you play? It was fun, for a while, but I remember being frustrated when the time would run out before I got to the next quest. :)
Yeah I played. It might have been one of the games I actually spent money on from my paper round ringing one of those premium tip lines from a phonebox (!)
Still am very curious about if your co-host was talking about Nightshift or it was another game. I should probably suggest to Joe that he covers it – awesome lost gem.
I’ll ask Angela. Not sure I remember that portion of our conversation. I’ll have her reply to the conversation. :)
