In this episode of Anomaly Supplemental, the topic is Doctor Who’s season two episode, “The Girl in the Fireplace.” Also known as the one where the Doctor snogs Madame du Pompadour. Sue, Sarah and I discuss one of my favorite episodes of all time and also delve into the question of romance’s place not only in Doctor Who, but science fiction and fantasy in general. We mention our favorite (and least favorite) romantic pairs, how “ships” can affect television viewing, and wonder what is love’s place in the life of the Doctor.

Of course, we couldn’t resist answering one of the hotly debated questions of the past year: is Mary Poppins a Time Lady?

As a warning to River Song fans, we may have been a little harsh on her in our episode. However, if you are a fan of the curly-haired, intergalactic femme fatale, we are interested in your opinions. Please send us an email about why you like her and why you support the Eleven/River pairing. While we may not share the same views of her, but we would love to hear your thoughts on the matter.
