JessicaMills

Hi, I’m Sue.  I wear superhero shirts to work [on a regular basis], and I am an Anomaly.

Jessica Mills is an actress, writer, web series creator, and internet superstar.  Her web series, Awkward Embraces, follows the dating misadventures of a geeky girl named Jessica and proclaims that “nerdy girls need love too!”  Many thanks to Kristin over at the Geek Girls Network for putting me in touch with Jessica.  During our chat, we talked about Jessica’s geeky influences, the pros and cons of creating art on the internet without the limits of traditional media, and how wonderful it is that the internet has allowed us to create our own communities of like-minded folk, bringing more and more women out of the “geek closet” every day.  She shares some stories that may be familiar from episodes of the web series, and explains why, in her eyes, Zoe Allyene (Firefly, just in case) is the epitome of the strong female character in science fiction.

You can follow Jessica on Twitter and Tumblr, and read her posts over at the League of Extraordinary Ladies.  Oh, and you should certainly drop everything your doing and go watch all of Awkward Embraces right now.
