Donate Blog RSS iTunes Stitcher Zune Podcast RSS When I started watching Babylon 5 Season 4, I couldn’t believe how much time had passed since I’d seen the end of Season 3! I also couldn’t believe I hadn’t gone insane wondering what happened to Sheridan and Garibaldi seeing as I was raving about how great the show was, but how cliff-hanger-esque. But even though it’s been close to two years since I last watched this show I definitely felt right back at home starting it! Because [...]

Donate Blog RSS iTunes Stitcher Zune Podcast RSS Over the last year, while working on The TOS Project, one of the comments I got most frequently was essentially, "Give it a break - it was the '60s." And now that Women at Warp is up and running, I’m hearing it even more. I’ve been thinking about this defense a lot, and talking about it with whoever will listen. And you know what? This doesn’t hold water with me. "It was the '60s" is a cop out. Yes, it [...]

Meet the Podcast Hosts

Jen Rhodes
Jen RhodesAnomaly Podcast
In 3rd grade, Jen coaxed the student body into playing “V” during recess. She lead the Visitors as “Diana” until red dust, AKA cherry flavored Kool-Aid mix, ended her reign. Without her leadership, the game ended soon after.

Angela’s first memories include Wrath of Kahn, Return of the Jedi, talking with 4th grade boy scouts about Amazing Stories instead of with girls about whatever 4th grade girls chat about. But she was never a tomboy and thus an Anomaly.

Geek Girl Podcast & Blog

Anomaly PodcastAnomaly has been a Parsec Award finalist for two years in a row and was highlighted by Libsyn Syndication as a “Podcast Luminary”.

From the start, the founders of Anomaly had but one goal in mind: to have fun while sharing the hosts’ feminine perspectives on all things geek. Created over ten years ago by  Jen and Angela, Anomaly features commentary and reviews on sci-fi and fantasy books, television, and films. Episode topics also include gaming, cosplay, convention reportsinterviews, and geek culture.

The term “Anomaly”, as it is used by this geek girl podcast & blog, was originally coined by Jen and Angela. They use the descriptor to set themselves apart from the stereotypes that are typically associated with geeks. Anomalies are women who do not allow themselves to be pigeonholed. Anomalies are unique. They are capable women with diverse backgrounds and hobbies. They, as Anomalies, are socially functional fan girls who like their TNG with a side of Project Runway or whatever else is considered “normal”.

This term is reserved for women.  Sorry, men,  you can not have it. You are “Singularities.”  Singularity: the state of being singular, distinct, peculiar, uncommon or unusual. We Anomalies think it sings. Rock on, our a-typical brothers, rock on. You, too, are welcome here.
