TRF Campgrounds Fireside Geek Chat This edition of our show is an unedited bonus episode featuring a fireside geek chat with friends. We recorded it at The Texas Renaissance Festival in early November of 2018. The Texas Renaissance Festival, which we sometimes refer to it on the show as T-Ren, Renfest or TRF, is an annual fair located in Todd Mission Texas. RED ALERT! Explicit Content! Parental discretion is advised! John Barrowman at Alamo City Comic Con "The Barrowman Tardis Twirl" In November, I took my 14-year-old niece Karlee, to Alamo City Comic Con in San Antonio, Texas. And actor/singer John Barrowman was the celebrity guest she was the most excited to see.   He twirled on stage at the start of his panel, in a lovely Blue Tardis dress that sparkled along with his smile. Karlee knew him as Captain Jack Harkness from Dr. Who. But he [...]

Meet the Anomaly Podcast Hosts

Jen Rhodes

In 3rd grade, Jen coaxed the student body into playing “V” during recess. She lead the Visitors as “Diana” until red dust, AKA cherry flavored Kool-Aid mix, ended her reign. Without her leadership, the game ended soon after.

Angela’s first memories include Wrath of Kahn, Return of the Jedi, talking with 4th grade boy scouts about Amazing Stories instead of with girls about whatever 4th grade girls chat about. But she was never a tomboy and thus an Anomaly.

Geek Girl Podcast & Blog

Anomaly has been a Parsec Award finalist for three years now and was highlighted by Libsyn Syndication as a “Podcast Luminary”.

From the start, the hosts of Anomaly had but one goal in mind: to have fun while sharing their unique perspectives on Sci-Fi and Fantasy. Created over twelve years ago by  Jen and Angela, Anomaly features in-depth commentary and reviews on sci-fi and fantasy books, television, and films. Episode topics also include gaming, cosplay, convention reportsinterviews, and geek culture.

The term “Anomaly”, as it is used by this podcast, was originally coined by Jen and Angela. They use the descriptor to set themselves apart–Anomalies are the halfway point between muggle and geek.

“Anomaly = Awesomeness! Jen and Angela’s Anomaly Podcast ROCKS! Not only are they entertaining, well-versed on all things sci-fi and fantasy, articulate and multifaceted, but they simply crack me up! The quality of the audio and attention to the finer points of editing are Uhura-worthy, and it’s fabulous that they are willing to point out the sometimes less-stellar aspects of what they’re discussing (The Game, anyone?) without dropping into insults or denigration. If you, too, are a geek or love someone who is, tune into The Anomaly Podcast, posthaste.”
