Something
that deviates from what is standard, normal, or expected; an
oddity, peculiarity, irregularity, inconsistency,
incongruity, a rarity.
Our show is
a clean, funny, conversational podcast that offers in-depth
discussions on topics that range from Sci-fi and Fantasy
books, movies and games, to general geek subjects like The
Texas Renaissance Festival.
We’re
Angela and Jen, two friends who have decided that our
feminine perspectives should be set upon the “male dominated
geekcast masses”, like a swarm of escaped nanites infecting
an unsuspecting computer core. We named our podcast
“Anomaly” because it’s a popular Treknobabble term that also
describes the “socially functional fan girl”. That’s right,
we are Anomalies. We can geek it up with the nerdiest nerd
and skillfully blend into the non-geek crowd without notice.
Consider us geek chameleons. This rare skill is one of our
genuine super powers (see our bios below for preferred
supernatural abilities).
Resistance
is futile. We also do our best to assimilate... Eh-hem... I
mean introduce non-geek women, who claim no interest in such
silly notions as star ships, laser swords, magic rings and
short people with big hairy feet, to the Sci-Fi and fantasy
genre. One of our primary goals is to let our sisters know
that geek is chic! Check out the episodes entitled: “Anomaly
Of BSG Persuasion” and “Anomaly of Star Wars Experiments
part 1” for two of our more successful assimilations.
Is there
anybody out there? Angela and I often wonder if we’re alone
in the geek verse. We’re fairly certain that the “Rule Of
Two” is only applicable in Star Wars, which means there has
to be more Anomalies out there. So if you’re a socially
functional fan girl,
please subscribe to our podcast and
tell us you’re listening. There are several ways to do so.
You can write us by clicking the “contact” link, you can
record your thoughts and send us an audio file (wav or mp3),
give us a rating/comment/vote on iTunes, Podcast Alley or
Podcast Pickle, or you can blog about us, and/or post a
reply in our own blog—let us know we’re not alone.
There are
certainly a disproportionate number of geek-guys to
geek-girls and as a result, our base audience will mostly
consist of fan boys. We’re cool with that! We invite you to
listen and welcome your comments and opinions as well!
Please send your feed back via the options listed
above...we’d love to hear from you too. Join our...dozens
...of fans...all over the world and while you’re at it, tell
us how you found us.
Lastly, we
are hopeless podcast groupies and as a result of our
addiction we were influenced by several of our favorite
podshows. We’d like to pay homage to those who came before
and who continue to carry the geek podtorch. Thank you!
Listed in alphabetical order are a few of our favorites:
Chronoradio.
Anomaly is listed on StarWarsFanworks.com, a site created by
the host of Chronoradio. Check it out for awesome Star Wars
audio dramas and podcasts!
Galactica
Watercooler. The hosts are fellow Texans. These three are
smart and hilarious Battlestar fans. Check them out.
GeeksOn.
This podcast was one of the first shows we ever listened to
and we continue to listen to their insightful, funny shows
to this day. Anomaly’s format format is based on GeeksOn and
was inspired by their all geek-girl episode. Check them out.
FYI, some episodes are explicit.
Treks In
Sci-Fi. This podcast was one of the first shows we listened
to. We later became friends with the host, Rick Dostie.
We’ve often joked that Rico’s podcast is the Happy Days to
our Laverne and Shirley. That’s right... Anomaly is a
spin-off show! If you discover Treks In Sci-Fi through our
show, please let Rico know.
