Anomaly Supplemental

Anomaly Supplemental, with Kasey and Sue

Anomaly Supplemental is a true testament to the power of the internet.  Only Kasey actually knew Jen and Angela before the genesis of the Anomaly community.  She and Sue, a podcast listener, were asked to contribute to the Anomalous Musings blog beginning in August of 2009.  As the community continued to grow, Anne, another listener, joined the blog staff and Sarah took on the roll of Anomalous Correspondent in September 2010.  Of these four women, only Anne and Sue have been in the same room together, and only once (so far) after both joining the staff.

Honored that Jen and Angela would share their creation, these ladies work to spread the word about Anomaly and expand the community, and heard that fans of the podcast wanted more.  But, as Jen says, “podcasting is hard work.”  An idea started forming to bring podcast subscribers more Anomaly without adding to the workload for the founding hosts.

Eventually, the idea took shape as Anomaly Supplemental – a weekly podcast in the Anomaly feed (and on a staggered release schedule).  Episodes may be hosted by any permutation of the Anomaly staff, including the founding hosts, from a solo show to a 6 (or more) person round-table, and focus on topics that may not be covered by the mother podcast.

The Hosts’ Picks: Sue’s Top 5 Anomaly Episodes

When I asked our co-hosts to choose their favorite five episodes, Sue was the first to reply; not only with the name of the episodes, but with a link to the show notes, too! She said if she didn't pick five right away, and stick with them, she would never be able to make a decision. I completely understand. I, too, have found it difficult to choose five. Not because I think we're "the bomb" and every episode is gold—far from it. It's because each Anomaly podcast episode is something Angela [...]

Top Ten Anomaly Episodes

We have been producing Anomaly episodes for seven years, but it wasn't until recently that we were able to review our stats to see which episodes resonated the most with our audience. That transition occurred two years ago when we switched to Libsyn. Now we know where our listeners are from (country, region and city), and how many times they download or streaming each episode. Don't worry, we don't know anything more than that. You can take the aluminum foil hat off your head ;) We wanted to share our top [...]

Your Moment of Who: Doctor Who, Series 7, Eps 8-10 (Doctor Who Reactions)

Here we go again!  Kasey and I set out to talk about episodes 8-10* of Doctor Who, Series 7 - "Cold War," "Hide," and "Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS."  Of course, because it's us, we got a little sidetracked.  So, you'll also hear about Arthur Darvill's stint on Broadway in the Tony-winning musical "Once," and how I thought he did when I was there last Saturday.  And also, how not to behave when you go to see an actor you know from genre TV do another project. Plus, [...]

Anomaly Supplemental: Sherlock Holmes

In the April edition of Anomaly Supplemental, Sue and I discuss Sherlock Holmes in all of his incarnations. From the original Arthur Conan Doyle short stories to modern interpretations like BBC’s Sherlock and everything in between, we examine what makes Sherlock Holmes one of the most popular characters in history. Meds, co-host of the Waffle On Podcast and member of the Sherlock Holmes Society of London, also contributes to the episode in a pre-recorded comment. Thank you to everybody who commented on the Facebook page and Twitter with their favorite [...]
