Anomaly is a award winning monthly talk show that is often featured in the “What’s Hot” section under TV and Film in the iTunes Store. Anomaly is primarily audio show, but does occasionally release video specials. Its episodes are centered on celebrity interviews, science, science fiction and fantasy literature, movies, television, comics, video games as well as costuming, renaissance festivals, conventions, musical theatre; etc. The co-hosts (and Anomaly founders), Angela and Jen, have two goals for every episode; to have fun and to offer a feminine perspective on all things geek. Angela and Jen recorded the first episode of Anomaly in 2006 and have no plans of stopping. Thanks to the addition of the Anomaly staff, the blog and mini show: “Anomaly Supplemental“, now offer subscribers extra content, additional perspectives and a greater number of show topics.
The Anomaly theme music was written and performed by The Illuminati, a punk rock band that Angela’s husband played bass in. The band still meets from time to time and recorded unplugged versions for Angela and Jen to use on the show. Those tracks are featured in the gallery at the top left-hand side of the page.
Here are five testimonials taken from the fifty-two, five star reviews left in the U.S. iTunes store:
“…Jen and Angela have a chemistry only best friends can have and they have sci-fi knowledge only geeks can have. Put those together and you have the ‘Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup of Podcasts’…two great tastes that taste great together. Add in some rockin intro/outro music and the fact they will have you laughing and it gets even better…”
“…This is the only podcast I listen to that has engaged me enough to a) attempt to interject my opinions out loud to hosts that can’t hear me; and b) unconsciously join in with the Gamma Quadrant Golf Clap, out loud, at work, to the amusement of my coworkers. More please. “
“Jen and Angela’s Anomaly Podcast ROCKS! Not only are they entertaining, well-versed on all things sci-fi and fantasy, articulate and multifaceted, but simply crack me up! The quality of the audio and attention to the finer points of editing are Uhura-worthy, and it’s fabulous that they are willing to point out the sometimes less-stellar aspects of what their discussing (The Game, anyone?) without dropping into insults or denigration…”
“This is the only podcast that keeps me coming back for more. I love it. I don’t think you heard me…I LOVE IT!!! Angela and Jen are AWESOME!!! They cover the stuff I already like and expose me to stuff I might not have heard of or wanted to see…. they’re very good at keeping the newbs informed and the experts entertained…”
“I really enjoy how Anomaly stays true to its cause: Sci-Fi and other geeky topics from a uniquely female perspective. I also like how ‘real’ the show is. Between family and work, they make this show feel very natural. If someone asked me to give an example of what makes podcasts both different and great, this show would be on the short-list I’d play. Worst of Star Trek: Sub-Rosa is a perfect example, and at the time of this posting, a recent example. Husbands, kids, jobs, parents, health concerns, their web site and social media connections…oh, and a very honest assessment of a comically memorable TNG episode too…”
